"JUST ONE LOOK is a sensually explosive, true romance from beginning to end. It s a story filled with playful witty characters that have great depth and are very true to life. I found myself deeply drawn in by Lauren s character and felt the emotional ups and downs that I believe the author wants the reader to feel. Victor, in spite of his good intentioned deception, is the epitome of every woman s fantasy, a phenomenal lover, friend, father, and lovingly patient no matter whom he is dealing with; and I was cheering him on throughout the whole story. The daughter is so precocious she just melts my heart. Definitely worthy of my keeper shelf!" - Christine, eCataRomance Reviews.

What the hell had he gotten himself into?
Victor could think of a dozen reasons why he shouldn't be having Christmas
dinner with Lauren and her family. What if someone brought up the subject of his
buying out Samuel Rose? And, the other little thing with Raini? It hardly
mattered that their relationship had fizzled like a wet firecracker. Lauren
probably wouldn't see his romance with her sister as nothing. He was wise enough
to know women never wanted to be second to their sisters. He hadn't lied to her,
just hadn't told her about it. Damn. Why hadn't he been up front with her?
That's a laugh, you sneaky bastard. You were afraid of missing out on a minute
of being with her. You never once considered you would fall in love with her.
He yanked his tie loose. He wasn't going. Yes, you are, you damned fool. She
wouldn't understand. And what would you tell her? How do you tell her I m the
guy you think caused your father's death? Oh yeah, and I got hot and bothered
with your sister. And because it happened a while back in history, I m sure
you'll see the humor there. Oh yeah, you like the great job and nice apartment
too. I'm the guy that fixed that for you.
He sunk down on the bed and rubbed his forehead. All of that would be reason
enough for her to kick him in the ass. He groaned, recalling his complimentary
description of himself. The fix it man. Yeah, you fixed it, bub. In the deepest
recesses of his mind, he heard the nagging question that was never far away.
What are you going to do? Damned if he had a clue.
He leaned over to tie his shoes and frowned darkly when a lace snapped. A sign
of things to come? He stood up and then pulled a pair of loafers from the
closet. If he didn't hurry, he would be late and he'd promised Lauren he would
be early. Another lie. He grabbed his jacket from the bed and headed for the
door.
He stopped in the entry hall to pick up the gifts he was taking with him. A good
bottle of brandy for Adam, flowers for Raini and his gift for Lauren. That was
the one thing he felt good about. It was the clearest statement of his feelings
that he dared give her.
When he reached the lobby, he exchanged a few words with the doorman and handed
the man a generous tip before stepping outside to wait for his taxi. Snow fell
from the gray skies and had covered his hair before the hack pulled up to the
curb. He climbed in and settled back with a grimace. The damned flowers were
probably going to turn black before he got there.
By the time he arrived at Raini's apartment, he had cold feet and it wasn't from
tromping around in the snow. He paid his tab and walked resolutely into the
building to push the button for the elevator. While he stood at the apartment
door, he gave thought to turning around and leaving. But, Lauren was waiting and
he pressed the doorbell. Lauren opened the door.
"Hello gorgeous," he said. His anxiety went south when she smiled at him. "Sorry
about the early thing. It's snowing. Broke a shoelace." Okay, stupid. She's
looking at you like you've flipped out. But, that smile of hers always makes you
crazy.
"It's okay, Raven." She took his coat and shut the door before taking his hand
to lead him in to the entry hall. "You're here. That s all I want."
He shot a glance around before drawing her into his arms. He pressed a soft
lingering kiss to her lips, and then deepened it as he drew her close.
When he lifted his head to smile into her eyes, she laughed softly.
"Since you're in front of me, I can't imagine what's poking me in the backside."
Somehow, he'd managed to not drop the things he held. He grinned and placed his
special offering in her hand.
"What's this?" She asked and examined the fabric of the gift box.
"Merry Christmas, baby." He glanced from the box to her face. "You like opening
gifts early. Go ahead."
He loved the sparkle in her eyes while her slender fingers plucked the silver
cord from the blue velvet container. His heart hammered against his ribs when
she lifted the lid and gasped softly.
"Raven. You angel," she whispered and took the fine gold chain from its bed of
white silk. "What does this beautiful thing signify? That you really love me?"
"Damned straight," he murmured. He touched the Burmese ruby that had been
expertly cut to look like a full smiling moon. "It's to remind you that every
time we make love, we set the moon on fire."
